Plantronics M214C Headset with Adjustable Volume Review

Plantronics M214C Headset with Adjustable Volume
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this locally from an office supply. I paid considerably more for mine, because I needed it in a hurry. It comes with a one year manufacturer's warranty. It has two sliding switches and a wheel type volume control on the cord. One switch is a two position sensitivity/volume control for the microphone (high and low), and the other is a sliding microphone mute switch. The microphone is fairly long and wraps around just to the corner of your mouth.
I sent myself a voice mail using the headset to check for voice and sound quality. The microphone records well and is fairly directional, so normal side room noises are not picked up. The sound quality is satisfactory, but certainly not high fidelity. The headband would become annoying if it was worn for long periods. For a very inexpensive headset used occasionally, this one works reasonably well. If you spend long hours on the phone, invest the money to buy professional quality office headset.

Jensen Hands Free Telephone Headset (Black) Review

Jensen Hands Free Telephone Headset (Black)

I gave this product 4 out of 5 stars because it does not give a snug fit on my ear, however it does stay in place while talking and working in the kitchen, etc. Those I have spoken with said they cannot tell I'm using a headset. The sound quality was clear from my end as well. I definitely recommend this product.

Plantronics Cordless Phone Headset M210C Review

Plantronics Cordless Phone Headset M210C
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've tried two other Plantronics corded headsets but they were primarily for a cell phone. Also a GE headset, but quality was poor on cell and cordless phone. I bought the M214C because it was designed for cordless phones. I works great. The only thing that I would consider an improvement is a better cord and hopefully replaceable. The flimsy cords are the weak spot, not the headset. Yes, I have bluetooth for cell phone, but it doesn't work on cordless phones (yet).

Plantronics CT12 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Headset Phone with Caller ID Review

Plantronics CT12 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Headset Phone with Caller ID
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When in my home office, I am on the phone 5-7 hours a day. I have tried many combinations of phones and headsets and have never been satisfied with the voice quality. I also run a wireless network and have had problems in the past with 2.4 Ghz phones causing interference. The Plantronics CT12 is the answer to all my problems:
* portable - small belt unit is light, offers great battery life and includes all the features I need
* great headset - sound quality is equal to that of a handset (people do not know you are on a headset); comfortable with two fit options, Firefly function is nice bonus
* Caller-ID - included on belt unit, works as expected
* 2.4 Ghz - range is good, does not cause interference with my wireless network (previous phones from Panasonic and others have)
Only negative is that you cannot answer or otherwise use the phone while it is charging (must remove the belt unit from the charger). All in all, highly recommended.

Plantronics S12 Corded Telephone Headset System Review

Plantronics S12 Corded Telephone Headset System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Honestly, I bought the Plantronics S12 for the looks and for the price. Now that I am using it, I have discovered that it is much better than the higher priced units that are being used around my office.
On the left hand side of the unit there is a sliding switch so that you can modulate the headset to your telephone. This worked for me out of the box. Depending on your telephone, you may have some hiss on the line, but I have none.
On the right hand side there is a switch to set the microphone between high and low gain, and there is a dial to fine tune it within each of the settings. Out of the box, I sounded very loud in the ear piece and people could hear me typing. I set it to low gain, and moved the dial to the lowest setting. People can still hear me fine, I cannot hear myself in the speaker, and no one can hear me typing. This is fantastic! My previous headset could not turn down the gain this low, now I can use the mute button less!
The headset flashes a red light when you are on the phone. People will now know that they can interrupt even if you have your headset on, they just need to check for the flashing light. There will be a learning curve for this in my office, but it is a great idea.
And finally, the amplifier bas has a holder for the headset, a simple but wonderful idea that does not work so well with the over the head configuration, but it still works.
The only problem is that the Plantronics S12 has no battery backup. But if the power is out at the office, there is only so much you can do on the phone anyway and you don't need a headset then since you cannot type on your computer anyway.

The S12 telephone headset system from Plantronics provides a hands-free method of communication which works with all single and multi-line phones. With convenient over-the-ear and over-the-head configurations, you can adjust the headset for maximum comfort, while volume and mute controls provide a way to adjust headset audio levels for maximum convenience. The noise-canceling microphone and Call Clarity technology deliver clear, easily-intelligible sound, and an in-use indicator light provides a visual phone status indicator.
With a 5.75-by-9.0-inch footprint, the S12 fits easily onto available desktop space, while a headset stand provides a convenient resting place for the headset. The S12 weighs just 2 pounds and comes backed by a one-year limited warranty.

Sony DR-J115 Corded Mobile Ear Clip Headset Review

Sony DR-J115 Corded Mobile Ear Clip Headset

I have a home office which is full of electronics including wireless routers and cordless phones. When I use a blue tooth headset with my cell phone, I tend to get static. I know I'm not supposed to, but I do. The static is really bad with a cheap blue tooth headset, and less so with a more expensive one -- but it's still there and still annoying. As a result, I started trying different corded headsets from cheap to expensive with varying luck. In all cases the static went away, but the headsets left a lot to be desired in one or more categories: Comfort, the ability to hear, the ability to be heard. I have been very pleased with the Sony DR-J115. The ear piece is intelligently designed and fits comfortably. The sound is clear. I have had no complaints about being heard either and do not feel compelled to speak more loudly than normal as I have with other headsets. The price was very reasonable as well. If you're in the market for a corded headset, I highly recommend this one.

I have a Plantronics Explorer 510 Blue Tooth headset, and I really like it. (See my review). But I don't always remember to keep it charged, so I run out of battery before I run out of "talkery!"
I was chatting online with a Plantronics customer support specialist who suggested that rather than buying a car charger, why not buy a wired set as a backup? GREAT idea!
The Plantronics MX256-X1* is a SUPERB piece - EXCELLENT sound quality on both ends of the call, with ONE TOUCH Answer/End call if your phone is so-equipped (e.g. Sprint's Voice Command) It WEIGHS LESS than its wireless counterparts, and is VERY comfortable to wear for extended periods: This unit features a SOFT silicone "clip" that attaches to the backside of your ear, not over the top. This means that it won't interfere with your glasses like the vast majority of Blue Tooth devices!
* NOTE: It is the X1 designation on ALL Plantronics wired sets that denotes compatibility with one-touch-equipped/voice command-type phones. IF your phone has this capability, make sure you look for a Plantronics unit with the x1 designation.

I just got this mic, and I love it. It is made of very good quality plastic. I use it with my Ipod touch and skype. Free internet calls over wifi for this small amount of money. You can't beat the savings you get with using this thing. I am very pleased with the call quality over all, and it does not affect the sound through my headset in the least bit when I'm listening to music. I use it with a phillips over the ear headset. And if I lose it, I won't be sad because this has the best price out there, I got it for $3.99. I could just get more, I've been telling everyone to get one for their ipod and skype.

Griffin GC17090 AUX Cable with Handsfree Microphone Review

Griffin GC17090 AUX Cable with Handsfree Microphone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I originally wanted an AUX audio cable to link my iPhone 4 music to my car stereo, but when I came across this I figured that for the small price difference I'd try this as an option for hands-free calling too. I drive across states for business trips, and several of those are no-handheld calling states such as NY. I expect other states to move this way in the coming years, so it seems a logical move.
Here are some notes based on my usage (in no particular order):
- Setup is as simple as it comes. Plug it in to the AUX input on your car console, plug the other end into your headphone out from your player. Its ready to use.
- The AUX audio function plays very clearly and cleanly from my iPhone, and doesn't seem to be adversely affected by the incorporation of the mic and/or the switch. I was a little concerned that sound quality might have been impacted by the build of the cable, but this is not the case.
- The volume definitely needs to be turned up much louder on my car system than for other functions (i.e. louder than when I use it for CD/radio/OnStar calls)
- An alternative to turning the volume up on the car stereo is to turn the iPhone volume up to max, but this means I have to keep resetting this each time I get in and out of the car. Its easier for me to just whack up the volume on the car. (If you have easily switchable 'profiles' on your phone you might be able to take advantage of that instead)
- The sound quality of callers is excellent over my car speakers. I couldn't tell the difference from using my OnStar hands free calling, and this saves me from burning through those more expensive minutes.
- The mic quality (as reported by the people I was speaking to) was described as "clear but quiet" and "far away". Like being a little too far from a speaker phone. No road noise or static/crackle was reported, just that it was very quiet. To me this is acceptable, I just need to be aware that I need to speak up and speak clearly, but speak normally (no need to shout). If you need perfect outgoing audio then you will probably need to get a jawbone of some kind or some much more expensive factory/aftermarket car-installed option.
- I used this cable with my iPhone 4, which is not detailed as being compatible, but it is. It is not listed on the box either (just 3G,3GS), but it is listed on the Griffin Technology website. I guess the packaging just hasn't been updated yet.
Some extra little tips you might find useful:
1) The switch that is used to answer incoming calls can also control your music playing on your iPhone... (I'm not sure exactly what other devices this works on though)
... Click once to stop the music, click again to continue (essentially a Pause)
... Double-click to skip to the next track
... Triple-click to go to the previous track
2) If your phone has call waiting capability, when you have an incoming call...
... Click once to put the current call on hold and switch to the incoming call
... Click again to switch between calls
... Press and hold the button to end the call
It does a reasonable job for a hands-free phone mic, and the AUX audio output to the car (phone and music) is excellent. Mic quality is decent but quiet. If you can live with this quieter mic, then the extra cost to get this hands-free feature is very good compared to the cost of a good audio-only cable, especially when you consider that the switch allows some control over your music playing without having to fumble for the phone itself.
Recommended, as long as great outgoing call quality isn't necessary (again, its clear but quiet).

I purchased this product so I could chat with my family while driving to and from work. It conveniently fits in one ear without the headset looking microphone so you don't feel like you are working at Old Navy or in a call center. You should be sure to plug it in before driving so there's no extra fiddling around, the only inconvenience associated with non-wireless capabilities. Quite often the person I am speaking with complains of not being able to hear me very well, but after a microphone adjustment it seems to be aleviated.

I'm a freelance interpreter who does occasional telephonic interpreting. I ordered this to replace my single headphone on my Plantronics T10 so that I would be able to fully hear with both ears. It is adjustible and the earphones work great, the sound quality is really clear. Unfortunately, so is my own breath, pen scratches, paper flipping, and even the dog's nails clicking on the wood floor in the next room. The microphone is not noise-cancelling as advertised. In fact it is very sensitive. This renders them useless in my line of work. I contacted the seller immediately, who promised me an RMA and either an exchange or a refund, but have yet to hear from them again. Hopefully they will respond soon, and maybe then I'll update my review.

Plantronics M60 Over The Ear Headset w/ 2.5mm Plug
Average Reviews:

I was looking for something cheap, and I found it. Sound quality is good, and people seem to understand me well despite noisy outdoor environments. However, I'm not a big fan of the fit. They have 2 rubbery pieces that you slip over the ear piece to fit in your ear. One is for the right ear, the other for left. I'd prefer a uni-ear design. Didn't really think about it, but having a button to answer and end calls is very handy. This head set does not have this.
All in all, this was a $20 mistake, but I'm continuing to use since the sound quality (on both ends) is ok.

Panasonic KX-TCA60 Hands-Free Headset with Comfort Fit Headband Review

Panasonic KX-TCA60 Hands-Free Headset with Comfort Fit Headband
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Don't bother with the fancier models of the Panasonic headsets. This bare-bones model has all you need. So it doesn't have volume adjustment or a mute button. Who cares? Your phone should already have those features. Besides, that redundancy would weigh down the entire unit. Also, this headset is very inexpensive to own, so those unnecessary features would drive up the price, which would not be a good thing.
If you own a Panasonic cordless phone, this headset works best with these phones. I own many Plantronics-brand headsets, which are excellent on my cell phone, but horrible on my Panasonic cordless phone. Callers constantly complain that I sound very far away. But then I bought this Panasonic-brand headset and callers hear me very clearly. Ordinarily, I'd be annoyed at having had to buy an additional headset for my Panasonic phone, but it was so cheap that I really don't mind. Now I've got an extra headset that I can use in my car! An added bonus is that this Panasonic also works really well with my cell phone, so if I had to choose one, I'd ditch my more more expensive Plantronics headset since that only works well on the cell. But, it's important to note that the Panasonic headset is not that portable so I'm not throwing away anything just yet.

Plantronics Discovery 640 Bluetooth Cell Phone Headset Review

Plantronics Discovery 640 Bluetooth Cell Phone Headset
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been using this headset for over a month now. In the interest of full disclosure I should state I am a supplier to Plantronics (and other headset manufactures), but am NOT employed by Plantronics (or any headset manufacture). I was given a early production unit before they were generally available.
The Discovery 640 comes with much more than what is pictured here. The complete kit is quite impressive and includes:
The headset (shown)
Small, Med, and Large soft ear inserts (pic shows med insert)
Ear stabilizer loop (not shown in pic)
charging holster
AAA battery holder for charging off battery
cell phone charger adapters for using your cell phone charger (Nokia, Motorola, Sony, and ???)
wall transformer (if you don't want to use the cell phone charger)
All of this is supplied in a stylish metal case that measures about 6"x3"x1".
Pros:
The headset is very comfortable and surprisingly stable without the ear loop installed. After a few minutes you completely forget you are wearing a headset - it is that comfortable.
The sound quality is very good - as one would expect from a Plantronics headset.
While it is certainly the smallest most comfortable headset I have seen, it is the charging holster and AAA battery case that steals the show. With the AAA battery attached, the holster is about the size of a cigar tube or very fat pin. It has a clip for attaching to your shirt pocket or securing inside your purse. The holster provides the dual purpose of storing the headset when you don't want it in your ear, and providing boost charge (via the AAA battery). When done talking, simply drop the headset in the holster to store the headset and recharge the battery.
Oh, and the holster will vibrate if you receive a call while the headset is stored there! Removing the headset will answer the call.
Cons:
Talk time is short (claimed 5 hrs), but using the holster and AAA battery eliminates this problem (15hrs talk time). If I recharge the headset at night and use the AAA booster during the day I have no problem getting though the day - and the AAA battery lasts about a week.
Headset is so small and comfortable it would be easy to loose and not realize it. Of course using the ear stabilizing loop (or keeping it in the holster) would prevent this.
Conclusion:
If you want a small, stylish headset, this is the one! If you want lots of talk time and don't want to use the holster to refresh charge, get the Voyager 510.

OEM Jabra C500 Behind-the-Ear Corded Headset Hands Free Review

Average Reviews:

Bluetooth headsets have not worked out well for me -- batteries run down, people on the other end complain about the sound of my voice or wind noise etc. My very first cell phone years ago came with a corded headset -- it worked great but it kept falling out of my ear so I didn't use it much.
This one is comfortable to wear all day long and doesn't fall out of my ear. The sound is good on my end -- the people I call all tell me I sound like I'm in a wind tunnel. Still better than other devices. If the microphone was closer to my mouth I think this one would be perfect.
