Ear Force XLC Stereo Headset with Mic Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have had the Turtle Beach XLC headset for a month now and have a very firm grasp on what it's all about. First and foremost, I have seen a number of people complaining that the chat is poor. This is because these people did not realize that the game sounds (effects, character voices, music, etc) must be turned down in the game settings menu--and then the chat is controlled by the TV volume. You need chat to be louder than game sounds, right? Well this is how you separate it!
Once properly adjusted, you can easily see why the XLC is an excellent headset and well worth the $29 price tag. In fact, the audio quality is outstanding for such a low price tag! Mic chat is clear as a bell--both incoming (when set up properly) and outgoing as well. Plus, the noise cancelling earpads are a very welcome feature to have since it allows you to completely focus on the game. For competitive FPS gamers like me, this is extremely useful.
Two things to keep in mind with the XLC:
1) Be sure to properly configure the game/chat balance as described above.
2) You must have a headphone jack on your TV (or home sound system receiver) to provide adequate power to the headset speakers. If you don't have a headphone jack anywhere to power the speakers, then I would strongly recommend the X1 or X11 instead.

Sony DR-J115 Corded Mobile Ear Clip Headset Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have a home office which is full of electronics including wireless routers and cordless phones. When I use a blue tooth headset with my cell phone, I tend to get static. I know I'm not supposed to, but I do. The static is really bad with a cheap blue tooth headset, and less so with a more expensive one -- but it's still there and still annoying. As a result, I started trying different corded headsets from cheap to expensive with varying luck. In all cases the static went away, but the headsets left a lot to be desired in one or more categories: Comfort, the ability to hear, the ability to be heard. I have been very pleased with the Sony DR-J115. The ear piece is intelligently designed and fits comfortably. The sound is clear. I have had no complaints about being heard either and do not feel compelled to speak more loudly than normal as I have with other headsets. The price was very reasonable as well. If you're in the market for a corded headset, I highly recommend this one.
