(More customer reviews)If the manufacturer wants to sell this product then they should fix the driver software that runs it. Each time I stick the bluetooth dongle in my usb port it completely rediscovers and re-installs the software. After that you need a reboot or log off and back on to get it to work. Then it works with some things but not others. For instance, it works great for walking around the house listening to music or videos. But when you log onto yahoo messenger is just stops working and the sound and speaker built into my notebook take over when the drivers for the headset abort without warning. For music the sound is not that high quality. So I don't recommend getting them for that only. Its yet another hardware vendor with screwed up drivers and they don't update them to fix them. Or maybe thats impossible. Shame on them for not updating the drivers for stability. So sad but that problem appears to be an industry trend. UPDATE after laying on the charger unused for 9 months i tried again and they finally fixed the drivers. Had to pay an IT guy $80 service call so had him take a look at while he was fixing something else. he spent almost 1 hour fighting it but now they work great. meanwhile i bought some others from sony and they worked immediately and fine. stay away from this brand.

These headsets are not all that great for music or gaming. They have good overall sound reproduction, very clear across all frequencies but they lack punch. They do just fine when used for TV shows, some movies and casual music.
The main reason I got them is for Skype, since they have a great mic. There is no way a person on the other end can tell it is a VOIP call.
The other issue being, they feel like they are pressing against your ears and you will start adjusting them again and again after a while and that becomes irritating.
For: Skype, TV Shows, Casual Music
Not For: Bass, Serious music lovers & gamers

UPDATE: 12-10-2009
After purchasing over 200 of these and distributing them around the state we have completed an internal review and have found a pretty unsettling result.
Of the 100 respondents to our survey (50% response rate) 14% report broken headsets (design and build quality), and 12% report poor performance. This equals a 24% failure rate over 2 years given heavy usage.
18% of the respondents would not recommend the product to others.
82% however felt that it was a good product, and 33% of the users rated it 9+ on a 10 point scale.
Given these additional results I have downgraded my review on the device from 4 stars to 3. I will keep the initial video review on the site as most of the factual information in the video remains unchanged. I would not purchase the current product for anything less than $10 shipped now.
Our organization is moving instead to the Caliphone 4100 which comes in at a $30 price point and is USB.

Convenience:
Most headphones only have a short cord, with these there's the option for long and short with the extension. I've got plenty of room now. And I can leave the bottom half plugged into my computer, so when I come home I dont have to pull the computer out just to stick in my headphones and mic.
Sound Quality:
I can pretty much hear myself breathing when I dont have any sound coming through them. They block out outside noise, and I'm hearing things in music and in games I never heard before even with speakers. And the best part is the volume is turned way down. You dont have to crank it up in order to overshadow the background noise, there is none.
Comfort:
They are a tad bit itchy, but that comes with any inside the ear earphones. One thing I like is that it fits easily inside your ear, I have small ears and the headphones for an ipod or any other inner ear-phones kill my ears after 30 mins, these are very comfortable. And they dont fall out or need repositioning, they fit right in.
Assets:
It comes with 3 sets of rubber things for the ear peice, all different sizes, some with out the lips.
Extention for the mic and the earphones
A small grey bag to put them in to carry or for storing.

This is a significant improvement for the microphone over the previous model, sound is roughly similar. I could not find a better headset for voice and sound. I tried blasting the headphones and recording via voice, it sounded as though there was no sound in the background. As for sound, sound quality is amazing for the price of the headset, their is almost a noise canceling effect on sound. Koss also has a lifetime warranty if anything happens to the set.

Plantronics .Audio 655 USB Multimedia Headset Review

(More customer reviews)I recently ordered the .Audio 655 to replace my old Plantronics DSP 500, which I absolutely loved (for about 5 years until the mic stopped working). I was hesitant to buy a headset that had no reviews, but so far I am very pleased.
I use Skype regularly and everyone says the sound quality of my mic is superb (although they said the same with the DSP 500). The mic itself is attached to a stiff piece of plastic that swivels very smoothly (I don't anticipate it loosening any).
The USB cable is pretty thin, although plenty long. I feel like I need to be cautious with it around my kitten.
The buttons on the headset work nicely, although I preferred the DSP 500's method of having the volume controls located along the USB cable. Also, there is a blue light on the left earphone in the center of the audio controls. This light appears to be on at all times.
I have two complaints about the headset so far:
- My ears are slightly too large for ear cushions. I would rate my ears as slightly larger than normal (but not by much). Initially putting the headset on, it is extremely comfortable, but after about 20 minutes of use it becomes a little uncomfortable (this is a very mild uncomfortability).
- The headset has no drivers, and Windows XP recognizes it as "Generic USB Audio Device" whereas my old DSP was registered as a "Plantronics Headset". This may not be important to most people, but I have a lot of audio devices attached to my computer (my old DSP, a Skype phone, webcam mic, speakers, and now this headset). All of my other sound devices are appropriately named; it's a shame my newest toy is not. Again, this is a very minor complaint.

(More customer reviews)I bought these as a replacement for a $30 pair purchased at an airport kiosk that I broke (I stepped on one of the buds). Hard to beat the price with this pair, and as another review noted, these are very comfortable. However, I use my LG Dare for music as much as for calling, and the difference in sound quality between the more expensive pair and these was significant. At mid phone volume the music sounded distorted, particularly in the higher frequency range. I'm no audiophile, but if you think you may listen to music through your earbuds I would recommend a different pair.

(More customer reviews)I wear this headset 12 hours a day on the average for work; it's comfortable and convenient, and the sound quality is fantastic -- good enough for making high-quality recordings.
However, it will break. The reliability of this device is abysmal. I'm on my 5th one. However, it's worth mentioning that I keep getting the same one despite it's terrible track record.
When I first went looking for a headset, I bought about 6 different models from different manufacturers, and tested each for comfort, sound quality, recording quality, and noise reduction; this headset was the clear winner by a fairly decent margin.
So my solution, and my recommended solution, is to buy the headset from some place that offers a reasonable extended warranty program. Every time it breaks, take it back and get a new one, presumably at no additional charge. Plus, you get a new headset every few months.

Koss SB40 Computer Headset with Microphone Review

(More customer reviews)The SB40's over-ear cushions fit well, and are comfortable over eyeglasses. The mic adjusts easily and stays put. The wide strap headband is separate from what appear to be a pair of spring steel headband wires, giving a precise positioning of the earpieces without sitting on the tops of your ears or cutting into the top of your head. The 8' cord gives surprisingly greater freedom than the 5' that usually comes with the El Cheapos.
Acoustically, the phones have good sensitivity, able to achieve ear-splitting volume levels from my SB Live before noticeable distortion. Particularly noticeable is the very clean, honest bass which should make both gamers and amateur musicians happy.
On the downside, the SB40's split "cowboy hat" cord gets twisted easily, quickly snugging up around your chin. The clothespin headband adjusters are a little hard to set precisely but when you do get them set, they stay put. The mic is a little less sensitive than some, needing to be positioned right next to the mouth to get good volume from non-boomy voices.
All in all, the SB40 appears to be well-built, and offers a good balance of comfort and performance for both multimedia and communications at a reasonable price.

Sennheiser PC 166 Binaural Multimedia/Gaming Headset with Noise-Canceling Microphone Review

(More customer reviews)So I work on a video conferencing product as my day job, so I have been through a fair few headsets at this point. My last pair was a plantronics dsp 500, before that I had a series of logitech usb headsets. So, here is my 2p:
This headset is quite good- i have a pair of grado 225s that soundwise blow away anything with a microphone attached- but this is one of the better sounding headsets i have tried for awhile (i listen to music- not gaming). The sound level on the cans is a little quiet, it could use a little amplification- but all in all they the sound you do get is excellent- very even across all frequencies, as you would expect from sennheiser. The microphone sound is good, low noise, very good for conferencing. There is a manual volume control and an on/off switch, and it does come with a nice little spool to wind up your cord into (no auto wind unfortunately).
One other thing to note here is that this is a usb dongle with a sennheiser headset, so you could theoretically use this dongle with other non-usb headsets-
In comparison to what else is out there I would take this one over the plantronics sets any day- my first set of plantronics were defective (one speaker was broken)- amazon graciously replaced them- and my second plantronics had a horrible microphone buzz, and the headset sounded generally muddy when used for listening to music. Also, even the portable plantronics are hard to haul around because of the bulky dsp component that is attached to the cable- it creates a cable snarl wherever it goes.
The other sets I have used, the logitechs (all different types), have all fallen apart in some way, including wires falling out, ear pieces falling off, losing fuzzy parts, etc- and the audio playback was mediocre at best, though the microphone was ok- you get what you pay for and if you only want to spend $20 then they aren't bad-
Anyhow I hope that helps someone else trying to make the same decision- there are a number of other gaming oriented headsets out there I haven't tried yet- so ymmv- but i would take the sennheisers over the plantronics at this point.

Frame is more solid and the mic boom is beefy and should stand up to wear and tear. The cans are nice and large and fit completely over your ears. Very comfortable - wearing them for 3-4 hours is no problem. Since they are open ear they keep your ears from getting sweaty and also allow you to hear the wife when she wants to get you off the computer. Mic is crisp and clear over Ventrilo/Teamspeak. Mainly use them for gaming and sound is great for a standard headset. I have it coupled with an X-FI Xtremegamer sound card and the detail is great. Highly recommended for the budget gamer.

Logitech USB Headset H360 (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this headset mainly because I work from home twice a week and I wasn't happy with my previous headset. I was previously using the Logitech Clear Chat Wireless Headset. That headset just had numerous problems with it so I decided it was time that I just played it safe and went with a wired headset.
Despite my previous experience with Logitech, I purchased the H360 anyways. After doing some research I found out that it actually takes advantage of Skype's new codec. At the time I purchased it, there were only 3 headsets that did this, so that was a major selling point. I have made many calls with this and people always tell me that I sound really clear. Someone even said I sounded too clear. haha.
Since I use this for work, it is also important that I have a headset with great noise canceling. The H360 does not disappoint. I have tested this out and I can have my tv awfully loud in the background without the caller even noticing.
Another feature that another user mentioned was the fact that it works with your PS3. It doesn't mention anything about this on Logitech's website or on the packaging, but it works great. My PS3 even recognizes it as a "Logitech H360".
Now for my cons. I think this may be a personal thing, but sometimes it tends to hurt my ears if I don't have it on just right. This is definitely something that probably varies from person to person though. Another minor issue is the shape. Although I love the behind the head fit, it makes it awkward to set down on a desk. This is only an issue for me because I am constantly setting it down and picking it up.
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. My only regret is that I wish I had waited a week or two. Logitech released two more headsets that take advantage of the new Skype codec and their design looks like it may be a little more comfortable.
