Sony MDR AS40EX - Headphones ( convertible ) Review

Sony MDR AS40EX - Headphones ( convertible )

Before I found these, I went through at least 5 sets of headphones: over-the-head, around-the-back-of-the-head, over-the-ear, in-ear, you name it. The only ones I kept going back to were my dorky over-the-head ones, solely because they didn't fall off like all the others. However, I decided to give these a shot just because they looked a bit more conforming than the other over-the-ear options I'd tried previously. Sure enough, these are the headphones for me. They come with 3 different over-the-ear attachments (one of which is sure to work for you) as well as 3 different ear bud attachments to ensure a secure fit. These headphones also have a fairly short cord (which, interestingly enough, sometimes comes in handy), which can then be lengthened with an additional piece that's included (genius!!).
Love these-- they're affordable, functional, comfortable, and wonderful.

Sony MDR-J10 h.ear Headphones with Non-Slip Design (Green) Review

Sony MDR-J10 h.ear Headphones with Non-Slip Design (Green)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The first time I had seen these headphones was in Sam Goody. Recently I had been using the ear buds. I hated them. They constantly fell out and were never comfortable. I was off looking for the ideal headphones which meant comfortable, fantastic sound, great bass, would stay on no matter what, and would leak almost nothing (so my parents couldn't hear me). I purchased these and took about 15 minutes to realize that the "L" meant "Left" and I was putting them on backwards the whole time. I knew they were on correct instantly. They were comforatable and fit snug. I turned on the music and let it rip. My mom (who was next to me) had to tap me on the shoulder to ask when I was going to try them out with music. She never knew they were even on! These were turning out to be the greatest headphones of all time. The XBS was great through these small things, I could set them in my hand and turn the volume up and I would FEEL the beat. Well enough story here's the pros and cons...
PROS- Great sound, never slip, comfortable, barely leaks noise, easy to put on and off, durable and long-lasting (survived being rolled up in some wrestling matts), beats all other over-the-head headphones, easy to jog with.
CONS- After a looong (about 3-4 hours long) period of listening, your ears hurt, and even with the tangle-slip thing they still tangle easily.
That's really it. Great buy, go for it.

Bang & Olufsen A8 Earphones (Aluminum/Black) Review

Bang and Olufsen A8 Earphones (Aluminum/Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been searching for MONTHS to find a pair of headphones that wouldn't fall off my ears during exercise. The few pairs that I have found that did stay put, would just sound awful and make my music sound as if it were playing inside a tin can. Although the price tag on this pair was a bit high for my liking, after adding up the prices of all the other headphones I have tried over the past six months, these are still a bargain by comparison.
They have a really unique adjustment that allows the user to manipulate the fit behind the ears. Although this takes a few seconds longer than adjusting a traditional pair of headphones, the big difference is that once these are in place, they won't budge!
Also, I can't say enough about the quality of the sound in these headphones! Since I am a vocalist, I can be a bit snobby when it comes to sound and these really exceeded my expectations. Finally it is a joy to listen to my music with headphones!
The only caution I have for people considering this purchase is to know who you are buying from. A friend of mine claimed to have purchased this same pair on Ebay and realized later they were fakes and not near the quality of mine. If you aren't paying around $100 for these, then there is a very big chance that they are not really Bang & Olufsen. Although B&O is really proud of their headphones, the quality of the product proves once again that you get what you pay for!!

With conventional earphones much of the sound never makes it into the ear. To stop this kind of leakage, we have developed earphones that can be adjusted to fit the contours and curves of the individual ear. The speaker unit itself can be moved up or down or side to side until the most comfortable and effective position is found. This ensures that they sit comfortably and firmly regardless of whether you're jogging or just relaxing.

Sony WM-EX190 Walkman Stereo Cassette Player with Anti-Rolling Mechanism Review

Sony WM-EX190 Walkman Stereo Cassette Player with Anti-Rolling Mechanism
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you are just looking for a basic no-frills cassette Walkman and you are not a perfectionist sound aficionado -- walk right on by, and buy something else. This Walkman has a nice price, but is a lot less than it sounds.
I had thought I could stand anything, since all I was looking for was a basic Walkman to listen to music and audiobooks. But I actually returned mine (And if I eat the shipping to return an item, that really says something!) What made it impossible for me was that the sound was extremely tinny and hissy, so much so that it hurt my ears. Using the bass-boost actually boosted the tinniness as much as the bass, so that was no help. Using the volume limiter did reduce the tinniness somewhat, but it still sounded terrible. I have bought inexpensive Sony Walkmans for years and loved them, and I bought a cheap Sony microcassette recorder a few weeks ago which is terrific, so I had felt confident enough to buy the EX-190. But the basic sound was unbearable.
To mention the good points, I really like the way it looks. The plastic is cheap, but light-weight. The buttons go on and off easily, unlike some which are too hard to press or which don't engage every time you press them. There is no auto-reverse, so you insomniacs will have to get up, flip the tape, and try to get drowsy again! Overall, I feel it *would* be a decent little machine, except that the sound is just too awful.

Sony MDR-J10 h.ear Headphones with Non-Slip Design (Black) Review

Sony MDR-J10 h.ear Headphones with Non-Slip Design (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking for some small, lightweight headphones that I could wear while running and working out. Ruled out, of course, were the normal earbuds, which have a tendency to fall out at the gentlest breeze, or at least at the slightest tug or jar. So, to that end, I picked up a pair of Sony MDR-J10 h.ear clips.
First, the good. They're very light and reasonably comfortable for something that's sticking just into your ear. No problem. The clips work very well -- no matter how hard I work I can't get them to fall off. It might help that they tend to get tangled in my hair. I personally prefer the clip style to a headband -- this way, there's absolutely nothing to bounce around while you're running. I should also mention that they look very sleek worn.
The cable features an adjustable restraint, above the normal fixed thing that marks the beginning of the dual cord, so you'll never have too much cord flying around your neck.
Second, the bad. The cord is a bit shorter than I'm used to, but hey, no problem. The sound from these features a whole lot of midrange without a lot of bass or even treble definition. You have to remember, however, that the drivers in these things measure in at like thirteen millimeters, so if you're expecting Sennheiser clarity, you're looking at the wrong headphones.
Overall, these earclips are quite satisfactory. They do what they need to do: They stay on no matter what, and they transmit music from your walkman/discman/MP3 player to your ears. If you're looking for headphones to wear while doing active things, then these are great. It needs to be mentioned that, with music playing all up in your eardrums, these things do a startling job at blocking out other noises, so be careful not to jog into a moving van or anything. Safety first!
