(More customer reviews)Headband is very tight, I had to wear it angled forward for comfort. Audiophiles may be dissapointed by the sound quality but I would rate it above average. My old Panasonic RP-HT240 had better sound quality but it's headphone cup cushion material was flimsy (disintegrating within 5 yrs) whereas these EX-25 headphone cups are high quality, functional & durable. This does not use sound circuitry which I considere a plus since those electronic gimicks add a bit of white noise. You must be cautious about wire connection at the headphone cups since it's not a very sturdy connection. Long cable length. Airplane headset adapter jack not included.

Memorex NC100 Ampgear Pro Series Headphones Review

(More customer reviews)I bought these headphones to listen to my Sony mp3 player, and to replace some Koss ear buds. The Koss buds sounded fine, but my ears are just shaped weird or something, because they keep popping out. I liked the idea of having something that would cover the whole ear and hopefully give me higher-fidelity sound. In short:
1. The noise-canceling feature works pretty well. In a noisy room (with a TV and conversations going) I could hear everything well. There was a noticeable difference with it turned on.
2. The headphones are pretty comfortable to listen to for a few hours. The cushion on the ear well.
3. The product is pretty lightweight, and seem like they have a nice range of motion to fit various head shapes.
4. It came with a few different adapters to fit your audio machine.
Cons:
1. Compared to the Koss earbuds, these don't sound as good. The bass is kind of muddy and the highs aren't as crisp. I tried fiddling with the equalizer, but I haven't really found a setting that sounds good. That said, these cans are ~ $20 bucks, so what do you want?
2. The noise-canceling feature has a little switch behind the right headphone and its kind of tough to turn it off and on.
Overall:
If you're an audiophile, you know you'll need to pay more than these guys. But if you want something that cuts out environmental noises, these work well. The price is good, and they feel comfy to me. These would be good for gaming, music, movies, etc. And who knows? Maybe you can set up your mp3 player to have the perfect sound with these.

Direct Sound EX29 Extreme Isolation Headphones (Black) Review

I'm in a big group of cubicles with completely exposed air conditioners overhead and industrial lab equipment not too far away. These really let me turn DOWN the volume and still hear my music. Sound quality is certainly acceptable, but compared to nice headphones (even in the same price range) it is somewhat lackluster. Think lo-fi. The point is that these headphones have way, way better sound quality *in a noisy environment* than the alternatives. If you don't need the isolation, look at the Sennheiser model below or the Sony MDR-7506. Or AKG K240. Or something more expensive. :)
Before deciding on these, I tried a few other worthy contenders:
** Bose Quiet Comfort 2. For the kinds of noise in my office, these did not do as good a job at isolation as the Extreme Isolation did. They are amazing at getting rid of low frequency noise, however. I can see why people like them for air travel. I found these to be LESS comfortable than the Extreme Isolation after use for a few weeks. (It feels like there is a pressure difference when the isolation is turned on.) Sound quality in the Bose headphones was OK but not stellar by any means. I didn't like that the active isolation circuit (which creates an annoying hiss) has to be engaged all the time (or the headphones don't work), and I didn't like the price, which is about 3X higher than the Extreme Isolation 'phones.
** Sennheiser HD-280. The Senn's have noticably better sound (much more definition and clarity, if somewhat lacking in bass), and do have impressive isolation. But it isn't anywhere close to what the Extreme Isolation provides. These would probably work fine in a less noisy office. And they don't look as dorky, either. :)
I have had 2 coworkers try out my headphones and decide to get their own set.
One important point--when you first get the headphones, they are VERY tight. One friend initially called them the "head pinchers". This effect makes for a very uncomfortable experience, but the good news is that they loosen up over time. Now, besides the obvious bulk, I don't notice any discomfort at all. One friend successfully pre-stretched his when he got them to counteract this effect.

JVC HANC80 Folding Noise Cancelling Headphone Review

(More customer reviews)My experience with noise reducing earphones is with the JVC HANC100, which is an earlier, and fairly satisfactory headphone. I've been satisfied with it for about a year.
This, the JVC HANC80 noise cancelling headphone, is even better! The sound rendition is superb. And this model has two modes of noise reduction: low frequency, and a wider range for more typical noisy environments, e.g. office, library, shopping, home (when relatives visit), auto travel, bus, aircraft, well, you get the picture ...
I like the wide range. At home with airconditioner, fans, neigborhood sounds, jets above, radios blaring, dogs barking etc, the effect is comforting. Add some music from your iPod or radio earphone outlet and you find yourself in a (quiet) heaven, listening to a high quality of sound reproduction. I was impressed with the sound quality, and I've used earphones of various types for many years.
One must understand that these, or any, noise-reduction earphones are exactly that: they are NOT noise-CANCELLING! Silicone earplugs are the best you can do in that regard. Best noise reduction is in the very low frequencies (makes my Boston MBTA subway excursions bearable). The excellent sound quality is icing on the cake. Get real! This isn't Star Trek, merely the 21st century.You don't need to spend $350 for that high priced brand! This is an excellent product.
Recommended.
Also look at the JVC HARX300 non-noisecancelling phones. They go over the ears, are very reasonably prices, have fantastic sound. Not designed to be easily transported (don't fold). I love them - have three, in each place in my home where I like to listen to music or TV.

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a set of headphones to use with my iPod while mowing the lawn. I had used a set of headphones that hook over the ears, but I had to turn the volume up too high to hear over the noise of the mower.
I looked around at a lot of sites (including high-end audiophile sites) and Koss was often suggested as a good company with good products. Their no-questions guarantee was often cited as one of the reasons Koss is a good company.
I decided to try the QZ-5 headphones because they are relatively inexpensive.
As soon as I tried them on, I was impressed. They blocked out a lot of sound without even having them attached to a sound source. I couldn't hear the TV or the phone ring with the headphones on.
When I tried them while mowing I knew I had a winner. I could leave the volume level at the same level I would use if I wasn't mowing the lawn. The noise of the mower was not eliminated, but it was reduced significantly. It became a low hum in the background instead of a roar that overwhelmed the music.
Comfort wise, they are good. I wear glasses and these work well with them. They don't pinch like the over-ear model did. It takes me about two hours to mow my lawn and they don't become uncomfortable during that time.
The sound is good enough that I plan on using the headphones to watch TV without the sound disturbing my wife.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the performance of these headphones.
