(More customer reviews)I use Holosync and purchased the Sony VDR600 as recommended with that program when I started it, years ago. The Sony headset is much more comfortable, the cushion is better and the headband is better. I also like the curled wire of the Sony pair. The Pioneer pair has a straight wire. The Sony pair was also a lot more expensive. But guess what - The sound was just a touch more crisp with the new Pioneer set.
The box was a bloody nightmare to open. It's one of those plastic sealed monsters, so brace yourself. The bass has a separate plug in - be aware of that also. And it comes with about a mile of cord.
I used these on an airplane and for the first time ever, heard the whole movie for the whole flight. WHAT a difference over ear buds and the $3 sets they sell enroute. GREAT for flying. I used them with my iPod and they picked up very very high frequency noise in the MP3. They are really good. But the cord is VERY long, so you wouldn't take these out for a walk with your iPod which is too bad because they are such a huge improvement over ear buds.
Finally we can use them plugged into the tv if one person wants to sleep and the other wants to stay up - it is super convenient to have an extra pair in order to do that.
The design of the Pioneer is very sleek. They look a lot better than the "haven't changed since the 1970's" Sony pair. All in all a great deal for the money and the sound is fantastic. I found them a bit uncomfortable after extended (an hour or two) wear and the cord is ridiculously long - that's why I dinged them a star.
